Slide a colored button toward the center of the unit and the tinted gel is backlit to reveal it's color. Slide two levers to the center and the colors mix together to teach children that "yellow and blue makes green".
There were two major phases to this project. First, was to design the mechanism that allowed the colored gels to slide, lock and reset positions upon several different actions of the lever handle. Second (and perhaps more challenging), was building a working model of those mechanisms that proved the feasibility of production, and a healthy life span based on extreme repetitive use by children. The successful working model was the basis for the production unit.
